Christmas Day 2016 - 'KoNoSo' for 25 musicians to be premièred by Ensemble Muromachi
06/12/16 08:44
Ensemble Muromachi will give the first performance of KoNoSo (a transliteration of the Linear B to the left), a piece for 12 Japanese and 13 Baroque and Renaissance western instruments. The piece – which takes its name and inspiration from the ancient Cretan city of Knossos and, by extension, Satie’s series of unbarred Gnossiennes – has a freefloating quality of distant lyricism, like a city viewed through the lens of 4000 years of history and myth.
The performance is on Christmas Day at 4pm (doors open at 3:30) at the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan in Ueno.
Further details are available (in Japanese) on the Ensemble Muromachi website.
Tickets can be purchased directly from me.
